Day 345: Case Dismissed – A blog to read & share if you can. Thank you

For now I am: Gutted, Angry, Exhausted, Disappointed, Emotional, Frustrated…..but so very very Proud of what we have achieved & what this case has actually proved:

That the Minister For (this shows that he is clearly Minister Against) Disabled People had sufficient information to pay due regard,  that the closure of the Independent Living Fund would have a detrimental impact on the lives of disabled people to live independently, and in giving that due regard, decided that this is ok to do and so on 30th of June 2015 will close The Independent Living Fund. They will transfer that responsibility to under resourced, cash strapped Local Authorities across the UK and we don’t what will happen as a result!

My local authority has just announced proposals for further cuts to Adult Social Services and hasn’t even decided what it is going to do with the transfer of these responsibilities that the closure brings, let alone talk to me/us about what I/we think is best for me/our own lives!

I want to write so much more but can’t type fast enough to make sense of it all.  All I know is I will right over the next weeks, we have to do more to spread the word about what is happening.  Right now  what I want to say is…….

I feel a line has been drawn in which clarity of the governments intention is now crystal clear.  I must now reflect for a day or two, talk to many involved and decide the best next steps for action.  Yes, saying that means:

We are not going to give up.

We are not going away.

We are going to fight for the rights we have enshrined in every piece of legislation possible.

I want to get on with my life, not as a campaigner and fighter, but as a musician, facilitator and yes sausages, as a lover!

We are fighting for future generations to be able live with dignity and pride and the support required to reach their total potential to shine and succeed in their aspirations & lives.

The governments current rhetoric about what they want for Disabled People and the reality of their actions are two very different things to the verge of being blatant lies and opposition political parties are at best shameful in their silence and response to it all.

This fight is not just about Disabled People it is about what kind of society we all share and live in.

Have ‘liked’ this but ‘like’ isn’t an appropriate response at all – it’s just meant to show my support. I’m so, so sorry. There seem to be many headlines on the internet today, and this isn’t one of them. Where is this devastating news? Why isn’t our country up in arms about it? Even so, please know that you do have the support of many. And you certainly have mine. Have shared. Will continue to support. Lots of love and thoughts to you all.
